India’s T20 World Cup Victory Parade: Route, Timing Details For Tomorrow

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a victory parade to celebrate Team India’s T20 World Cup win in Barbados on July 4, according to a post by secretary Jay Shah on X.

The Men in Blue have finally left for Delhi on a charter flight from Grantley Adams International Airport after being stranded in Barbados for three days due to a hurricane.

The special Air India charter flight, Air India Champions 24 World Cup (AIC24WC), departed at approximately 4:50 am local time and is scheduled to arrive in the Indian capital on Thursday at around 6:20 am.

A similar victory parade was organized in 2007 when Mahendra Singh Dhoni led India to its first T20 title.

Rohit Sharma and his team will be honored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi just hours after their return to the country.

Victory Parade: When and where it will be held?

Jay Shah announced that the victory parade is scheduled to take place in Mumbai, Maharashtra, at 5 pm.

The World Cup-winning team will visit the picturesque Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium.

India’s monumental win

In the tournament’s final match, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite an early setback at 34/3, a counter-attacking partnership between Virat (76) and Axar Patel (47 off 31 balls, including one four and four sixes) added 72 runs, stabilizing India’s innings. Another crucial 57-run partnership between Virat and Shivam Dube (27 off 16 balls, featuring three fours and a six) helped India achieve a total of 176/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Prize Money announced

The BCCI also announced a Rs 125 crore reward for Team India for winning the ICC T20 World Cup.

BCCI president Jay Shah announced this in a tweet, saying, “I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!”
