East Bengal FC delivered a strong performance, defeating Mohammedan SC 3-1 in the Indian Super League 2024-25 season. The match took place on Sunday at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium. From the start, they controlled the game and secured a well-earned victory.

Early Missed Chances Set the Tone

Right from the kickoff, East Bengal FC looked sharp. In the fifth minute, Vishnu Puthiya received a pass from Raphael Messi Bouli on the left side of the box. He had enough time to shoot but sent the ball high and wide.

Just three minutes later, Mohammedan SC had a chance of their own. Franca combined with Joe Zoherliana and found space inside the box. However, his shot narrowly missed the left post.

Then, in the 15th minute, East Bengal FC created another opportunity. Messi Bouli sent a perfect cross to Dimitrios Diamantakos, who was unmarked in the center of the box. Unfortunately, his shot drifted wide of the left post.

Naorem Mahesh Singh Breaks the Deadlock

After several missed opportunities, East Bengal FC finally took the lead in the 27th minute. Vishnu Puthiya spotted Naorem Mahesh Singh making a run and passed the ball to him on the left side of the box. Although the angle was tight, Mahesh showed great skill and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner. As a result, East Bengal FC took full control of the match.

Mohammedan SC Pushes for an Equalizer

As the second half began, Mohammedan SC came out with intent. In the 46th minute, Marc Schmerbock delivered a pinpoint cross to Franca in the middle of the box. However, East Bengal FC’s defense reacted quickly and blocked the shot before he could score.

Saul Crespo Extends the Lead

Sensing the need for fresh legs, East Bengal FC coach Oscar Bruzon made a key substitution in the 61st minute. He brought in Saul Crespo for Nandhakumar Sekar, and the decision paid off almost immediately.

Just four minutes later, Messi Bouli spotted Crespo in space inside the box and sent a perfect pass his way. Without hesitation, Crespo fired a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner, doubling East Bengal FC’s lead.

Franca Pulls One Back for Mohammedan SC

Despite falling two goals behind, Mohammedan SC refused to give up. They pushed forward with more intensity and finally found their breakthrough in the 68th minute.

East Bengal FC’s defense momentarily lost shape, allowing Mohammedan SC to exploit the space. Robi Hansda played a quick pass to Franca, who was well-positioned in the center of the box. Without wasting any time, he slotted the ball into the bottom right corner, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

David Lalhlansanga Seals the Win

Even after conceding, East Bengal FC remained focused. Instead of sitting back, they kept attacking, looking for another goal.

Finally, in the closing moments, they secured their victory. Provat Lakra delivered a well-timed pass to David Lalhlansanga, who was in the right place at the right time. He controlled the ball inside the box and fired it into the bottom left corner, putting the result beyond doubt.

With this impressive 3-1 win, East Bengal FC demonstrated their strength and maintained momentum in the ISL 2024-25 season.
