League Format and Key Matches
The season will begin with an exciting clash between Chennai Heat and Hyderabad Falcons. They will compete alongside Punjab Warriors, Delhi Dribblers, Mumbai Titans, and Gujarat Stallions in a round-robin format running until February 24. The top four teams will advance to the Semi-Finals on February 28. Officials will crown the champions at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on March 1.
Teams and Player Line-Up
There will be twelve players on each of the six participating teams, that are equally divided between Indians and international athletes. To make better young talent development, teams can bring in two mentor players who are more than 25 years old for guidance and leadership.
Some of India’s best basketball talent will represent the league players like Sahaij Sekhon, Gurbaz Sandhu, Pranav Prince, Arvind Kumar, Kushal Singh, Harsh Dagar, and Arvinder Singh. The rostrum will also have former NBA G-League player Princepal Singh and international basketball stars in the form of former NBA player Lamar Patterson, Jock Perry, Lachlan Barker, and Uche Dibiamaka.
Bollywood Star Rannvijay Singh
The league’s launch was celebrated by Bollywood star Rannvijay Singh, who shared his excitement with this news. “Basketball has always been a sport of energy and passion, and InBL Pro is set to take it to the next level in India. It’s incredible to see the mix of young Indian talent and global superstars competing together. I am sure basketball fans across the nation will enjoy this league.”
Introduce The Rapid League Format
The Rapid League format is one of the most welcomed innovations of this league, coming first from New Zealand. There, it hurries up development through four quick four-minute quarters, with no time-outs in sight. As such, the coach evenly spreads playing time among all squad members. Finally, only three foreign players may play at once, to benefit local talent as much as possible.
Vision for Indian Basketball’s Future
Rupinder Brar, InBL Pro’s Chairman and founder, spoke to the transformative effects of the league. “InBL Pro Season 1 has been a watershed moment for Indian basketball. With this league, young players now get to battle it out in the same tournament as international cricketing superstars, all this while delivering side-splitting excitement for fans, and the fast-paced nature of the Rapid League format ensures everyone gets a say in the matters, leading to more growth and participation in the sport.
