“India has an edge over New Zealand”: Former cricketer Chandu Borde ahead of semifinal clash

In the ICC Cricket World Cup semifinal match in Mumbai, former Indian cricketer Chandu Borde stated on Tuesday that India appears to be a well-rounded team and has an advantage over New Zealand thanks to its all-around performance in the league stage.
Borde also mentioned that India will benefit from their high level of confidence, support from their home audience, and awareness of their living conditions.
“Making it to the semifinals is an accomplishment. Each team will aim to make it to the championship game. We anticipate excellent cricket. The way the boys are playing, as seen from an Indian perspective, is with confidence. The group has very high standards for you. Because cricket is so popular in India, people will support them.

Because of their superior all-around performance, India seems to have an advantage over New Zealand, but in ODI cricket, you cannot afford to get comfortable,” Borde told ANI.
At Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, India and New Zealand will play in the first semifinal of the ICC Cricket World Cup. India will be hoping to overcome the knockout stage, which has prevented them from winning a major ICC title since 2013, and that too against a team that has caused them the most problems in crucial games, while the Kiwis will be hoping to make it to their third consecutive World Cup final after 2015 and 2019.

“The confidence level of the team is high, they are used to the conditions, they are backed by people at home and it has given them confidence, these three factors will be a plus for India and help them do well,” said the former player.
Borde predicted that the toss would be a significant factor in the game. Borde stated that it is preferable to bat first in the evening due to the dew factor and lights.
“I believe toss will be quite influential. The dew factor comes into play in the evening. And there are lights. Thus, it is preferable to bat first and score highly.

One thing that I enjoy about Shubman and Rohit is how aggressively and confidently they start games for the team. Other players’ confidence also increases. Remember, though, that NZ has done well against us. We must not take them for granted. NZ has performed well and advanced to the semifinals. They defeated us once, Borde remarked.
“The atmosphere gets heavier in the evening and helps bowlers a little bit. A major component will be to score well,” he continued. The way India’s middle-order batsmen, Shreyas Iyer (421 runs) and KL Rahul (347 runs), are batting is another plus, according to Borde.
The way KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are playing is also a plus. India is a fully formed team. Whether in batting or bowling,” he remarked.

Borde spoke about his favorite ODI batsman on the current Indian team. “Favourite ODI batter is difficult to decide as all are playing well, be it Rohit, Virat, Gill, Iyer, KL etc.”
The Indian team consists of the following players: Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rohit Sharma (captain).
The following players represent New Zealand: Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitch Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Will Young, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, and Kane Williamson (captain).
