Heinrich Klaasen Slams Third-Fastest IPL Ton, Powers SRH to Massive Total

In match number 68 of IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) Heinrich Klaasen scripted a breathtaking chapter in IPL history with a whirlwind 105* off just 39 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Delhi. The knock was not only the fastest century of this season but also the joint-fourth fastest in IPL history, equalling Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball milestone from 2010.

Klaasen smashed his century in just 37 balls, placing him behind only Chris Gayle (30 balls), Vaibhav Suryavanshi (35 balls), and Yusuf Pathan on the all-time list. He hit 9 sixes in the inning the second-most by an SRH player in an SRH inning after Abhishek Sharma’s 10 this season.

SRH Post Third Highest IPL Total Ever

Having won the toss and decided to bat first, SRH played a masterful game of batting to score 278/3 the third-largest team total in the history of IPL. The foundation for the innings was laid by a classy 76 of 40 balls by Travis Head, which was followed by fireworks from Abhishek Sharma (32 off 16) and Ishan Kishan (29 off 20). A late cameo of 13* off only 6 balls was provided by Aniket Verma.

This is SRH’s third 250-plus effort in T20s, more than any other team in the world, and even better than India and Surrey, who have achieved it twice each.

Heinrich Klaasen Joins Elite List

Klaasen also became part of an exclusive group of players with two or more IPL centuries batting at No. 3 or lower with this innings. The group consists of AB de Villiers and Sanju Samson (3 each), followed by Suryakumar Yadav and Klaasen (2 each).

Klaasen has 62 sixes in the IPL after 2024, behind just Nicholas Pooran (76), Abhishek Sharma (70), and ahead of hard-hitters such as Riyan Parag (60) and Virat Kohli (57).

SRH’s 19 sixes in the match were their second-most in an innings, short of their 22 sixes against DC and RCB last season. The team’s power-hitting ability, spearheaded by Klaasen, has been a pillar of their campaign.

With this victory, SRH not only consolidated their position in the playoffs’ race but also sent out a strong signal to competitors their batting order is capable of re-writing record books on any day.
