Head Coach Indian Shooting contingent, Suma Shirur, expressed her gratitude over Manu Bhaker Bronze Medal Win says, “Every Indian is very proud…Manu won a medal and the entire outlook changes. It is huge…”
PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah also Congratulated Bhaker on her achievement through X ( Formerly Twitter).
Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal when she took bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. Bhaker, a 22-year-old shooter, ended 0.1 points behind South Korea’s Kim Yeji, who got silver, and another South Korean, Oh Ye Jin, who won gold.
This victory comes three years after Bhaker’s disastrous performance at the Tokyo Olympics, when a pistol failure wrecked her efforts. Her Paris triumph adds to her excellent record; she is a nine-time World Cup medalist and now joins the rare group of Indian shooters who have won an Olympic medal. Bhaker’s medal makes her only the fifth Indian shooter to accomplish this accomplishment.
