“Had to Go Over 200”: Kishan Reflects on SRH’s Big Total and Victory

After Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) strong win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday in Lucknow, Ishan Kishan spoke about the importance of momentum. He said it is the batter’s job to build on a good start from Abhishek and Head.

“When you get to bat first and both openers are looking in good touch, it’s your job to keep the momentum going,” he said.
“The moment I saw Abhishek and Head starting the game like that, I just knew it’s a very good wicket and we have to go over 200 at least.”

Moreover, Kishan explained that plans must change when wickets fall. “Your approach changes when wickets are falling, but you try to keep the momentum going. For that, you need to play some good shots,” he added.

He also said practice helped him play with confidence. “You get that confidence when you bat well in the practice sessions. I was just thinking of playing good shots. One side was very big and there were gaps,” he said.

Learning Despite Strong Knock

Although Kishan scored big, he still wasn’t fully happy with his performance.
“Not so happy with the performance overall. We could’ve done much better overall. I could’ve done much more for my team,” he admitted.

However, he stressed the importance of learning. “It’s a game of learning. These things happen. You just have to keep believing in yourself and keep working hard,” he added.

SRH Posts a Massive Total

As a result of Kishan’s 94 off 48 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes, SRH reached a huge total of 231/6. Aniket Verma also added a crucial cameo. Together, they gave SRH strong momentum in the first innings.

Hyderabad Secures 42-Run Victory

After that, SRH bowlers took control. Pat Cummins and Nitish Reddy bowled well to stop RCB at 189 runs. RCB fell short by 42 runs, failing to chase the target of 232.

Consequently, Kishan was named Player of the Match for his aggressive batting.

Points Table Standings

Following this match, RCB stands at third on the points table with 17 points—eight wins, four losses, and one no-result. On the other hand, SRH remains in eighth place. They have won five matches and lost seven, earning 10 points from 13 games.
