Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their stellar run in IPL 2025 with a clinical 39-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Monday. The dominant win further reinforced GT’s position at the top of the points table, with six wins from eight games.
Gill, Sudharsan Lead Batting Charge for Gujarat Titans
After being put in to bat first, GT openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan provided a rock-solid start. Gill led from the front with a captain’s knock, scoring a fluent 90 off 55 balls, laced with 10 boundaries and 3 maximums. Sudharsan provided the perfect foil, striking a composed 52 off 36 balls.
The pair stitched a 114-run stand for the first wicket, laying a perfect platform for a big finish. While KKR’s bowlers tried to claw back in the death overs, a late cameo ensured GT finished with a competitive total of 198/3 in their 20 overs.
KKR Falter in the Chase
Chasing 199 for victory, KKR failed to get a solid start. Despite a fighting half-century from skipper Ajinkya Rahane, the hosts struggled to maintain the required run rate against GT’s disciplined bowling unit. Frequent wickets and lack of partnerships derailed their chase as they ended at 159/8 in 20 overs.
GT’s bowlers showcased remarkable control throughout, with each of them contributing effectively to halt KKR’s momentum. Rashid Khan and Prasid Krishna were particularly economical, keeping the scoring in check during crucial phases of the innings.
Gujarat Titans Maintain Dominance in the League
This win pushed GT further up the table with 12 points, well on course for a playoff berth. Their consistent performances with both bat and ball have made them one of the most balanced sides in the tournament. KKR, on the other hand, are left needing wins in the remainder of the league stage to keep their qualification hopes alive.
