George Russell Flags ‘Fundamental’ Flaw in Mercedes 2025 Car Package

Following the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, George Russell expressed concern over Mercedes’ ongoing struggles, to an increasing extent, an issue not only in performance and behind Red Bull and Aston Martin since the beginning of the year but also in broader car characteristics like temperature sensitivity to changes.

George Russell stated to Sky Sports F1, “When it is hot, we’re slow. When it’s cold, we’re quick,” even suggesting that it was the same trend for two seasons and that it wasn’t by choice!

Heat Sensitivity Exposes Deeper Flaws in Mercedes Package

Russell Flags Tyre Temperature Trouble

George Russell emphasized that the team has struggled with their set-up in warmer conditions, particularly how the car generates and manages tyre temperatures. “It’s something we brought from last year, which then continued. I wouldn’t say we’re out of ideas, but this just feels very much like a problem baked into the car,” he said,

Russell has asked Mercedes to find a better compromise in setup before the summer races begin. “We’re going into hotter races, and this does not look great. We need answers and we need them quickly.”
