The Panjab University shooting team on Tuesday won a gold medal at the Khelo India University Games in Bengaluru under the captaincy of Gauri Sheoran.
Gauri after the win dedicated this Gold Medal to her late grandfather Chaudhary Bahadur Singh who was an Ex education minister.
Gauri Sheoran, who is also a world university shooting champion, has taken part in 35 international championships and has won 26 international medals. She has also won 108 national and other medals. The experienced campaigner is also the first Indian sports pistol woman to win a gold medal in shooting at World University Games. Earlier, she had also won a gold and silver at the South Asian Games.
The Khelo India University Games kicked off with a grand opening ceremony at the Kanteerva Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. This is the second edition of the event and was inaugurated by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu. In the 10-day event, more than 4,000 athletes will participate to win 257 gold medals.
