A case of rape has been filed against home cricketer Shivalik Sharma, who was a member of the Mumbai Indians team in IPL 2024. The case emerged during the current IPL 2025 season, putting a cloud over the young cricketer’s career.
The complaint was filed at Kudi Bhagatsani police station in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where the woman lives. As per officials, the cricketer is being tracked by the local police following the complaint that alleges he initiated physical relations on false grounds of marriage.
Police Detail Timeline of Events
Assistant Commissioner of Police Anand Rajpurohit outlined the timeline of the case to the media. “A woman, a resident of Sector 2, Kudi Bhagatasani, has levelled allegations against cricketer Shivalik Sharma. The woman had gone for a walk in Vadodara in February 2023, where she met Shivalik. Their friendship gradually turned into a romantic relationship, and they would speak for hours over the phone. Both families met in 2023, and the couple got engaged. After their engagement, they engaged in physical relations,” he informed Lokmat Times.
The relationship allegedly turned sour in August 2024, when the woman was called to Vadodara. There, Sharma’s parents allegedly ended the engagement, expressing interest in searching for a different match for their son.
The medical examination of the victim has been done, and her statement has been recorded in court. Police have begun standard legal procedures, and further action is imminent.
