Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday declared the addition of Sri Lanka’s all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as the injured New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips’s replacement for the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In a media statement released by the league, it made the announcement to all about the same, stating, “Gujarat Titans (GT) have appointed Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka as the injured Glenn Phillips’ replacement for the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.” Phillips went back to New Zealand following a groin injury he developed in the April 6 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
How Phillips Got Injured and His IPL History
The harm occurred in the over of Prasidh Krishna when Ishan Kishan pushed a short ball to the point for a single. Glenn Phillips exerted his best and attempted all that could have been done to prevent the run. The batsmen managed to get the run, but at the cost of an injury to Phillips. The medical staff removed him from the field a few minutes later.

He is the 2022 Asia Cup-winning captain for Sri Lanka.

Dasun Shanaka is also a well-known name in the T20 league tournament circuit, having 4,449 runs from 243 games and 222 innings to his credit, with an average of 26.17, and three centuries and 16 fifties to his credit. He has also taken 91 wickets with an average of 25.29, and best figures of 4/16.
He was earlier with GT in 2023 and played 3 games, scoring 10 minutes. The all-rounder will be joining GT for Rs 75 Lakh.
