On 1 February 2025, the BCCI Naman Awards 2025 were conferred at Mumbai where India’s cricketing elite is rewarded for outstanding performances in the 2023-24 season.
The glittering ceremony recognized Jasprit Bumrah, Smriti Mandhana, Ravichandran Ashwin, Sarfaraz Khan, and Asha Sobhana, among others, for their contributions to Indian cricket.
Bumrah Won Best Cricketer
The ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah won the Polly Umrigar Award for Best International Cricketer (Men) after his sensational displays, especially those match-winning spells in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and other series-deciding wins.
Star batter Smriti Mandhana was declared the Best International Cricketer (Women) for her phenomenal season. She was crowned as the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year. Mandhana the obvious choice for the award with 4 ODI centuries to her name with an average of 57.86.
She shared a post on Instagram and commented, ‘Happy to receive the Best International Women Cricketer award at the #NAMANAwards. Thank you to BCCI for this honour! 😇’

Sachin Tendulkar Received Prestigious Award
Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, on his winning the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, was given a farewell again.
Reflecting on his own farewell in 2013. Tendulkar smiled of gratefully. He shared precious advice with young cricketers to have a good time on the cricketing field.
He said, “That farewell in 2013 was overwhelming. The flood of love and affection from the nation left me speechless. When the team gave me a guard of honor, I realized it was the end of my playing days.” He further added, “I realized how rare and precious such moments are, and I advised young cricketers to cherish their time as current players.”
Special Shout Out of BCCI
Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was given a special award for his splendid performances in Indian cricket, retiring in December 2024 with 537 Test wickets. That bright talent Sarfaraz Khan from Mumbai, grabbed the Best International Debut prize for explosive knocks against England and New Zealand.
Asha Sobhana impressed one and all in her debut when the youngster had a pivotal influence with the ball to make key breakthroughs against South Africa.
Big Winners of the Night
Smriti Mandhana won the Highest Run Getter in ODIs award. Highest Wickets in ODIs – Deepti Sharma. Tanush Kotian is Mumbai’s rising all-rounder. He was awarded Best Performance in BCCI Domestic Tournaments after his heroics in the Ranji Trophy win. The Mumbai Cricket Association was honored for its exceptional success across multiple tournaments.
