Bangladesh defeated India for the first time in women’s One Day International

Bangladesh managed to secure their first-ever victory against India in women’s One Day International cricket. With Anusha’s unfortunate run-out, India’s innings stumbled to a meager 113 runs. The match, already plagued by rain, was reduced to a 44-44 over contest, and Bangladesh found themselves at 152 runs after 43 overs while batting first.
In reply, India faltered and could only muster 113 runs in 35.5 overs, ultimately losing the match by a margin of 40 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method. Leading the charge for Bangladesh was Captain Nigar Sultana, who top-scored with 39 runs.
Fargana Hoque also played a significant knock, contributing 27 runs. India’s Amanjot Kaur, making her debut in ODIs, impressed with her bowling and claimed four wickets. Devika Vaidya and Deepti Sharma supported her efforts by taking two and one wicket, respectively. Among India’s batswomen, Deepti Sharma emerged as the highest scorer with 20 runs, while Amanjot Kaur and Yastika Bhatia chipped in with 15 runs each. Bangladesh’s Murshida Akhter was instrumental in dismantling India’s batting lineup, taking four wickets. Rabeya Khan complemented her with three wickets, and Nahida Akter and Salma Khatun secured one wicket apiece. Following their triumph in the T20 series, India now faces concern after their defeat in the first ODI. The team will be eager to stage a strong comeback in the next match, aiming to regain their winning momentum. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will look to build on their historic victory, further boosting their confidence and momentum as the series progresses.
