Australia All-Rounder Marcus Stoinis Grabs the Top Spot in New ICC T20 Rankings

Australian cricketer Marcus Stoinis has ascended to the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I All-rounder Rankings following his outstanding performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

According to the ICC statement, Stoinis’s elevation comes after his pivotal role in Australia’s victories, including a match-winning 59 off 29 balls against Scotland. His bowling figures of 2/9 against Namibia further solidified his position at the summit, displacing Mohammad Nabi from the top spot.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan complete the top three, with Nabi still in contention at fourth place despite sliding down the rankings.

In the bowling rankings, West Indies’ Akeal Hosein has made significant strides, climbing six places to second, while England’s Adil Rashid maintains his position as No. 1. Alzarri Joseph has also surged six spots to just outside the top ten, and Gudakesh Motie’s impressive form has seen him rise 16 places to 13th.

At the top of the Men’s Batting Rankings, Suryakumar Yadav, Phil Salt, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan retain their positions. However, lower down the rankings, there have been notable movements among players in good form.

Australian opener Travis Head has advanced five places to fifth, while West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran has risen eight spots to 11th. Sherfane Rutherford’s blistering 68* against New Zealand has seen him climb a remarkable 43 places to 42nd in the rankings, reflecting his impactful performances in the World Cup.
