West Bengal Police Continues To Search For Slain Bangladesh MP’s Minced Body

The West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has intensified its search operation in Bhangar for the second consecutive day on Saturday, aiming to recover the minced remains of Bangladeshi member of parliament Anwarul Azim Anar. According to CID reports, Anar was suffocated and murdered in a flat in Kolkata, after which his body was dismembered and minced to obliterate any traces of his identity.

Anar, who arrived in India on May 12, was last seen on May 13 afternoon, accompanying friends to a flat in Bidhannagar near Kolkata for a medical examination. The CID has apprehended one suspect in the case, identified as a Mumbai-based butcher, who confessed during interrogation to skinning Anar’s body, chopping it into pieces, and mincing them to erase any identifying features.

Investigators revealed that the perpetrators engaged the services of a butcher named Jihad (alias Siam), residing illegally in Mumbai for several years. Jihad was allegedly brought to Kolkata two months prior by an American citizen of Bangladeshi origin named Akhtaruzzaman Shaheen, believed to be the mastermind behind the meticulously planned murder.

According to police statements, Shaheen confessed to ordering Jihad and four other Bangladeshi nationals to suffocate and kill Anar in the flat. Subsequently, they stripped the flesh from his body, minced it to conceal his identity, and packed the remains in polythene bags. The dismembered bones were also chopped into smaller pieces and disposed of in various locations around Kolkata and its outskirts using different modes of transportation.

In response to the heinous crime, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been assembled to probe the killing of the Bangladeshi MP. Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, in a news conference held in Dhaka earlier this week, confirmed Anar’s death in Kolkata. He disclosed that Bangladesh Police had apprehended three individuals in connection with the case, as reported by the Daily Star newspaper in Bangladesh.
