US Woman Goes Missing At Bahamas Yoga Retreat

A 41-year-old woman from the US has gone missing since last week after she travelled to the Bahamas to attend a yoga retreat. Taylor Casey was last seen on Wednesday around Paradise Island. She had gone to the Caribbean country for the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat before she disappeared. Her family is deeply concerned for her safety and well-being, believing that she is in danger and would not vanish willingly.

Taylor’s mother expressed their worry, stating, “We are deeply concerned for Taylor’s safety and well-being. I believe Taylor is in danger because she was eager to share her yoga retreat experience with others upon her return.” The family is urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that Taylor would never disappear like this.

The Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Bahamas confirmed Taylor’s disappearance on Tuesday, stating that they had asked the police to investigate. According to the retreat, Taylor did not attend morning classes on Thursday after she was last seen the evening before. The retreat is collaborating with the authorities on their investigation.

Taylor’s family plans to travel to the Bahamas this week to assist in the search. They described her as a Black American with light skin and a thin appearance, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with natural, often-covered hair. She has been practicing yoga for 15 years and is described as an “intelligent, deeply caring, thoughtful and joyful person.”

The disappearance of Taylor Casey coincides with a warning from the US State Department earlier this year advising travellers to exercise increased caution in the Bahamas, including in Nassau, due to crime. Officials cautioned about the occurrence of violent crimes such as burglaries, armed robberies, and sexual assaults in both tourist and non-tourist areas.
