Turkish law enforcement authorities have made public the apprehension of three Pakistani citizens in Edirne on allegations of abducting an Indian national. The abductors, as per reports, demanded a ransom of two million Indian rupees, equivalent to approximately $24,000, from the victim’s family.
The victim, identified as Radhakrishnan, a young Indian who had traveled to Turkey for employment purposes, was engaged in dishwashing duties at a restaurant in Istanbul. His encounter with the culprits, who are said to be Pakistani asylum seekers, unfolded around a month ago when they enticed Radhakrishnan with the prospect of a job at a translation firm, subsequently leading to his abduction in Edirne.
Following a distress call from one of Radhakrishnan’s acquaintances to the Turkish authorities, a coordinated operation was launched, culminating in Radhakrishnan’s liberation from a residence in Edirne. Reports from the police revealed that the abductors had bound Radhakrishnan’s limbs and transmitted a threatening video to his family.
During the operation, law enforcement agents uncovered and confiscated an unlicensed firearm, four handguns, and a sum of currency at the abductors’ domicile. Additionally, a Turkish national with a criminal history was apprehended for harboring the abductors.
The swift and decisive actions undertaken by the Turkish police led to Radhakrishnan’s safe recovery and the apprehension of those implicated in this criminal act.
