Indian And Bangladeshi Defence Colleges Sign MoU For Strategic Military Education Cooperation

The Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, Tamil Nadu, and the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in Military Education, focusing on Strategic and Operational Studies.

This agreement was formalized during the official state visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on June 22. Both institutions provide training to tri-services officers, preparing them for higher staff and command roles. They share common training methodologies, curriculum, and challenges, leading to this collaborative initiative to enhance bilateral engagements.

The MoU aims to boost professional expertise, deepen understanding of strategic affairs, share best practices, and enhance academic capabilities for student officers and faculty members. It will facilitate joint training packages, seminars, faculty exchanges, and reciprocal instructor visits.

During her visit to India on June 21, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina engaged in bilateral discussions, emphasizing shared commitments to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region. Both countries pledged to co-lead the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management aspect of the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) and collaborate on global platforms, especially representing the interests of the Global South.
