Indian American county commissioner candidate and 30-year-old policy expert, Taral Patel was detained by Texas Rangers on the grounds of online impersonation and identity misrepresentation on Wednesday.
The fort bend County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Division is currently probing the complaints against precinct 3 commissioner candidate in collaboration with Texas rangers.
As per Texas Election Code, the case of third-degree online impersonation and Class A misrepresentation of identity are the complaints registered against Patel.
He is being held on a USD 20,000 bond for a felony charge and a USD 2,500 bond for a misdemeanor. If the bond is not posted, he must appear before the magistrate.
Later, confirming the arrest, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said, that more information will be given after they receive further updates.
Taral Patel is a democrat candidate who enjoys significant political experience at both local and national level and is currently, serving as a white house liaison under US President Joe Biden.
Earlier, he worked as a strategist for George during mid-term election in 2018. He was a young chief of staff, who served in Fort Bend county’s judge’s office, and during that time, another high-profile Indian American KP George was elected to serve as a judge.
