Female Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By 2 Vehicles In Bronx

A speeding vehicle, clipped by another car, killed a pedestrian on Tuesday, May 28, after slamming into her at a Bronx intersection. The hit-and-run was caught on camera.

The video shows the woman, 30, crossing Washington Avenue at East 167th Street at 6 pm. She suddenly saw a blue Jeep SUV driving toward her.

The woman stopped in the centre of the crosswalk, taking a step backwards. A black Toyota Rav4 then clipped the Jeep, but the woman could not manage to walk back to safety on the sidewalk.

Hitting the Jeep’s rear bumper, the Rav4 sent the vehicle into a tailspin. The Jeep directly headed for the pedestrian.

The Jeep’s Driver Flees

After a violent collision with the Jeep, the woman was hurled into a stationary car. According to the NYPD, the driver of the Jeep subsequently exited the vehicle and fled the scene.

Three individuals emerged from the damaged Jeep, with the driver indicating the area where the woman was struck before calmly retrieving several items from the vehicle and departing. In contrast, the driver of the Rav4 remained present at the scene.

The woman was transported to Lincoln Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased by the authorities. Her identity remains undisclosed.
It remains uncertain whether any of the vehicles involved disregarded a red traffic signal. Additionally, it is unclear which vehicle had the right of way.
An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, with no charges having been filed as of yet.
Earlier this month, a Bronx driver was arrested a year after he fled the scene following a collision with e-bicyclist Hua Pan, 64, resulting in Pan’s death. Emilio Berrios, aged 32, was apprehended on charges including criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, and leaving the scene of an accident related to the fatal hit-and-run that occurred on April 5 last year.
