Leading figures of the Congress party, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Sonia Gandhi, are scheduled to convene a rally in Jaipur on Saturday, April 6, to officially unveil their electoral manifesto called ‘Nyay Patra’.
The Jaipur rally is set to take place following the release of the Congress manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which highlights commitments such as ensuring a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and advocating for a constitutional amendment to lift the 50 per cent cap on reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Presented at the AICC headquarters in the presence of Mallikarjun Kharge and former party presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the manifesto focuses on five “pillars of justice” and outlines 25 guarantees under these pillars.
Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra conveyed, “Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will lead a significant public gathering tomorrow in Jaipur to introduce the manifesto to the people. There is immense enthusiasm among party workers for tomorrow’s event,” according to sources.
Dotasra urged all Congress members to gather at Vidyadharnagar ground in Jaipur on April 6 at 11 am to ensure the success of the program.
Highlights from the Congress manifesto ‘Nyay Patra’ include commitments to address nearly 30 lakh vacancies in central government posts, implement a 10 per cent quota in jobs and educational institutions for economically weaker sections (EWS) without discrimination across all castes and communities, and adopt the Rajasthan model of cashless insurance up to ₹25 lakh for universal healthcare.
Additionally, if the Congress comes to power in the upcoming general elections starting April 19, it pledges to pursue a constitutional amendment to lift the 50 per cent cap on reservations for SC, ST, and OBC, conduct a nationwide socio-economic and caste census, and promptly reinstate full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, the party vows to abolish the Agnipath program and instruct the armed forces to resume normal recruitment to meet sanctioned strength requirements.
