Sonali Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka alleges that her sister Phogat was raped and murdered by her assistant Sudhir Sangwan and his friend Sukhwinder. On Thursday Rinku filed a complaint with Goa police.
Meanwhile, Rinku stated that a few hours before her demise she talked to her mother, sister, and brother-in-law on 23 August. Rinku claimed she had complained about her staff during their conversation.
Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka alleged that after adding drugs to her meals her sister was raped by her PA.
“She (Sonali) said Sangwan had given her food laced with some intoxicant, raped her and made a video and was threatening to make the video viral on social media,” the police complaint read.
According to Rinku’s complaint, Sangwan also threatened Sonali of destroying her political career. He also seized her phones, ATM cards, house keys, and property records.
Sonali’s nephew Moninder Phogat said, “Hume shak nhi hume yakin hai ki aisa hua hai unke sath. (We are sure that our sister was raped and murdered).”
Earlier on Wednesday, the BJP leader’s family raised questions about her death and suspected foul play in the matter. The family will conduct Sonali Phogat’s post-mortem at AIIMS, Delhi.
“We are not satisfied here. We will get the post-mortem done again in AIIMS Delhi. We are not being heard here. My sister was committed to the BJP but not a single BJP leader came here to help us. We want justice,” Rinku said.
“I have seen my sister’s body and her face, and ears are blue and this happens when the poison is inside the body, not in a heart attack. My sister was healthy,” Rinku further said.
Moreover, the Goa police have also registered a murder case against two persons on Thursday.
“Murder case registered against two persons in the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat,” Goa Police said.
The Inspector General of Police OS Bishnoi said, “Women police officers who conducted a physical examination of Sonali Phogat’s body have not found any sharp-edged injuries on the body.”
Furthermore, the BJP leader’s daughter Yashodhara also sought justice for her mother.
“My mother deserves justice. The case requires proper investigation and the culprits should get strict punishment,” Yashodhara said.
However, Haryana BJP leader Phogat passed away on 23 August after suffering from a heart attack in Goa. Sonali Phogat contested against Kuldeep Bishnoi from Adampur in Haryana during the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2019. The popularity of Phogat increased after becoming a Tik-Tok star and a contestant on Bigg Boss.
