The Indian duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lost the semi-final of the Singapore Open against Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida on Saturday.

Jolly and Gopichand yielded 21-23 and 11-21 loss in 47-minute match. In an earlier round, the indian women duo defeated south Korea’s pair SY Kim and HY Kong with a score of 21-16, 19-21, and 22-24 in women’s quarter final on Friday.

The Quarter finals lasted one hour and 19 minutes.

Even though Indian pair had a shoddy start, as they lost the first set by 21-18. But they did make a great comeback, as they maintained their cool against Olympics bronze medalists. Thus, winning second and third sets with a score of 19-21 and 22-24 respectively.

Meanwhile, India’s ace badminton player PV Sindhu, faced second round of defeat this thursday in Singapore open tournament.

Sindhu was defeated by Spain’s Carolina Marin with a score of 21-13, 11-21, 20-22, in a decider three-game, which lasted one hour and eight minutes.

Despite having a good start early in the game, the world no.3 Marin with her sheer concentration managed to gain an upper hand on sindhu.

Moreover, at one point, sindhu even enjoyed the upper hand of 18-15 at in the third game. But Marin still managed to snatch the match from the indian player.

India’s top men singles player HS Prannoy was also defeated by Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto, in Singapore open’s second round with a score of 21-13, 14-21, 21-15 in 78 minutes.
