Local residents of Shivalik Garden located in Ward No. 6 of Manimajra are facing serious problems as soon as the evening falls. There is no arrangement of lighting around the main gate and toilet of the park, due to which it remains dark here, due to which the elderly, women and children who come for a walk are feeling unsafe. Due to darkness, there is a possibility of any kind of accident and there is also a possibility of a crime.
It is noteworthy that local residents Ajay Kumar, Vikas and Shiv Kumar, who come to the park for a walk, expressed their concern and said that as soon as the evening sets in, most parts of the garden become dark.
Not just darkness, the availability of drinking water in the park is also a serious concern. There is only one public tap in the park, which often does not have water supply. Due to this, people have to face the shortage of cold water in summers, which further increases their problems.
District Congress President Surjit Dhillon said that the lack of facilities in Shivalik Garden reflects the apathy of the local administration. Due to this problem, people have started avoiding coming to the garden. He said that proper lighting and drinking water arrangements in the park are not only necessary for the safety of the citizens, but it is also important for their health and well-being.
Seeing these problems of the local residents, District Congress President Surjit Dhillon, Block Congress President Sanjeev Gaba, and District General Secretary Bua Singh have demanded the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and the Mayor of the city to intervene immediately in this matter. They have urged that proper lighting and adequate drinking water should be arranged in the park,
