Amid escalating tensions and rifts between the allies in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena took a veiled jibe on its partner — Congress — and referred to it as a “creaking old cot”. The attack came after the Congress’s resentment in which it said that the party was not getting enough say in the decision making of the Maharashtra government. The tension became apparent when a meeting between Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Congress leaders was postponed again on Wednesday.

However, Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat refuted the claims and said, “Whatever is written in the editorial of Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ is not the complete truth and is based on little information. I want to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to discuss some demands that are in the interest of people and in day or two, meeting will happen.”

When asked about the current situation, he said that there was a possibility of meeting but CM Uddhav and his family were mourning the death of Madhav Patankar, their close family member and rejected all reports on rifts. He added that there were various issues that had to be discussed with CM.
