The Prime Minister has virtually witnessed the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project in Ladakh. This ambitious project features a 4.1 km long twin-tube tunnel, set to be constructed at an altitude of approximately 15,800 feet on the Nimu–Padum–Darcha Road, promising all-weather connectivity to Leh. Upon completion, the Shinkun La Tunnel will hold the title of the highest tunnel in the world.

“Ladakh is experiencing a new era of peace and development. With the upcoming 4G network and the completion of the 13 km Zojila Tunnel, National Highway 1 will become an all-weather route,” PM Modi said.

This strategic infrastructure development is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency of movement for the armed forces and their equipment. Additionally, the Shinkun La Tunnel is poised to drive economic and social development in Ladakh, marking a milestone in the region’s connectivity and growth.
