Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched development projects worth ₹1003 crore in Ahmedabad on Sunday, just ahead of the Raksha Bandhan festival. The event marked the e-launch and foundation stone laying of 45 projects led by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also attended the event.

During the occasion, the dignitaries, including Amit Shah and Bhupendra Patel, flagged off the ‘Door-to-Door Waste Collection’ van, with Shah interacting with residents. Shah lauded the Gujarat Government and AMC for their efforts in driving forward development initiatives worth ₹1003 crore across the Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad Lok Sabha constituencies.

He highlighted that Ahmedabad alone saw the inauguration of 21 projects worth ₹730 crore, along with the foundation stones for four new projects in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha area. Additionally, 18 projects were inaugurated, and foundation stones were laid for two projects in the East and West Lok Sabha areas, focusing on sectors like sanitation, health, sports, and environmental conservation.

Shah also emphasized the continuous investment in Ahmedabad, noting that the State Government and AMC have been investing approximately ₹5000 crore annually in development projects in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency over the past five years.

Addressing environmental concerns, Shah spoke about the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campaign aims to combat climate change by promoting tree plantation. Shah mentioned that under the ‘Mission 3 Million Trees’ initiative, AMC plans to plant 30 lakh trees in 100 days, transforming the campaign into a significant public movement.

Shah urged Ahmedabad residents to actively participate in this green initiative, encouraging them to plant trees and support the city’s transformation into a green city within two years. He also praised AMC for setting up oxygen parks across the city and urged citizens to contribute to these efforts.

Reflecting on Gujarat’s development, Shah attributed the state’s progress to effective leadership and governance, leading to the re-election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a third consecutive term. He highlighted that the new amenities, including gyms, swimming pools, and oxygen parks, are aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Ahmedabad residents.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel echoed Shah’s sentiments, attributing the success of good governance to the collaboration between Modi and Shah. Patel noted that the 45 development works inaugurated, totaling ₹1003 crore, reflect the commitment to improving the ease of living for urban residents in the Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad Lok Sabha constituencies.

Patel emphasized that these projects, including vegetable markets, swimming pools, pink toilets, and flyover bridges, are particularly beneficial for women and their families ahead of Raksha Bandhan.

In addition to the development projects, the Chief Minister pointed out that ₹80 crore has been allocated to Ahmedabad under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, with an additional ₹277.60 crore designated for road projects.

The event also saw the inauguration of an oxygen park, a pond near Sindhu Bhavan Road, a newly built swimming pool, and a gymnasium at Makarba. Multiple other initiatives, such as pink toilets, overbridges, waste collection systems, and infrastructure improvements across Ahmedabad, were launched or had their foundation stones laid.

The event was attended by Ahmedabad MP Hasmukh Patel, local MLAs, AMC officials, and residents. Mayor Pratibha Jain reiterated AMC’s commitment to transforming Ahmedabad into a Viksit (Developed) Ahmedabad, contributing to the vision of a Viksit Gujarat and Viksit Bharat by 2047.
