Shah stresses on more tests to flatten Covid curve in NCR

Union Home Minister emphasises on more Rapid Antigen Testing facilities in meet with CMs of Delhi, UP and Haryana.

To combat the rising coronavirus cases in the Delhi NCR region, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a meeting with the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana for more than an hour- and-a-half through video conferencing.

The issue of coronavirus infections was discussed in the meeting and the steps taken so far were also reviewed. The agenda of the meeting was prevention of coronavirus infections in Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad cities of NCR, along with Delhi.

During the meeting, the Home Minister asked for Covid-19 tests to be conducted on the maximum number of people in the districts of Delhi-NCR and treatment ensured on the basis of the reports. He also said that the administrative officer should take the responsibility of treating the patients before they reach a critical stage and also increase the healthcare facilities.

Shah also emphasised on increased adoption of the Rapid Antigen Testing system to help reduce the infection transmission rate. These kits can be provided by the Government of India to UP and Haryana. Focus on early hospitalization to reduce mortality rates is also to be done.

The Home Minister laid stress on extensive use of the Aarogya Setu andItihaas apps to help in mapping of Covid-19 in NCR. UP and Haryana canavail AIIMS Telemedicine consultation through which patients will get advice from experts.

Dr Vinod Paul, a member of the NITI Aayog who was present in the meeting, apprised Shah of the status of coronavirus infections in all the districts of NCR, including Delhi. He mentioned all the district magistrates who have done good work towards eradicating corona infections in their respective districts.

In the meeting held on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar presented data and details of corona cases in their respective states.
