Security guard arrested for attacking and robbing 82-year-old woman


A security guard has been apprehended for assaulting an 82-year-old woman and stealing jewelry valued at Rs 3.2 lakh in the Thane district of Maharashtra. The incident occurred in a housing society in Bhayandar town on September 19. Based on a tip-off, the police arrested Rajendra Bahadur Kumwar, a 42-year-old man from Nepal, in connection with the case. The elderly woman was alone in her house around 10 pm when an unidentified individual entered her residence, attacked her, and fled with jewelry worth Rs 3.2 lakh. Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone I, Jayant Bajbale, stated that the Navghar police have filed a case under Section 394 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with voluntarily causing harm while committing robbery.
After examining CCTV footage from the area and interviewing residents, it was discovered that the security guard had not reported to work since the day of the incident. Acting on this information, the police located him in the Salasar area and apprehended him. They also recovered the stolen valuables from him.
