In a significant development, security forces successfully eliminated two terrorists in a two-day-long encounter in the Nowpora area of Sopore, situated in the northern region of Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

According to a statement from a senior police official to Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir Scroll, the identities of the slain terrorists are yet to be confirmed.
The encounter commenced on Thursday afternoon following a coordinated operation by a joint team comprising Police, Army, and CRPF, which launched a cordon and search operation in Nowpora. During the exchange of fire, two soldiers sustained injuries, along with a civilian identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar (35).

The intensity of the encounter escalated as the security forces intensified their search efforts, prompting the terrorists in hiding to open fire, initiating a fierce gunfight. In light of the situation, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Sopore announced the suspension of all educational activities in the region as a precautionary measure. The successful neutralization of the terrorists underscores the persistent efforts of the security forces to maintain peace and security in the region, safeguarding civilian lives from potential threats posed by anti-social elements.
