Jammu August, 01: In a significant breakthrough amid a fresh spate of militant attacks in the Jammu region, security forces have successfully dismantled a militant hideout in the Kalakot area of Rajouri district. During the operation, they recovered an array of weaponry, including an AK rifle, two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), four magazines, two hand grenades, and additional ammunition.
According to sources, the hideout was discovered by a joint team comprising District Police Rajouri and the Rashtriya Rifles unit of the Indian Army during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The operation took place in the upper reaches of Kalakot, leading to the significant recovery of arms and explosives.
“The Indian Army and local police have been conducting continuous search operations in Kalakot to root out militancy in the area. This successful bust is a testament to the relentless efforts of our security forces,” the spokesperson stated.
Following the recovery of the weaponry, a massive search operation has been launched by police and the Rashtriya Rifles to locate any additional arms and ammunition. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
