- GTA VI’s first official trailer has surpassed 250 million views
- Rockstar Games recently released a new trailer — but for GTA V’s enhanced PC version, leaving fans disappointed
- A fan theory linking GTA VI to Saint Leonidas Day also went viral
GTA VI is one of the most-awaited titles in the gaming community. The game will be releasing for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and has reportedly been in development for over 10 years. It has been over a year since Rockstar Games unveiled the first official trailer for the game, and since then, not a single follow-up has landed. But that hasn’t stopped fans from going back to where it all began.
GTA VI first trailer hits 250 Million views
The December 2023 reveal trailer of GTA VI— which confirmed the return to Vice City and introduced protagonists Lucia and Jason — has now crossed 250 million views on YouTube. To put that into perspective, it picked up its last 50 million views in under a year, without any fresh updates or promotional push. That’s a testament to just how high anticipation remains.
The video, now well into its 16th month online, also boasts over a million comments. Many of them are a mix of nostalgia, running jokes about Rockstar’s radio silence, and some light-hearted despair over the wait. A few users have taken to calling it ‘Grand Taking Ages VI’ — a title that may hit a bit too close to home for some.
The first official trailer for GTA VI, released in December 2023, introduced dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia. The trailer also confirmed the return to a location similar to Vice City with its picturesque sunsets. It was a nostalgic ride for many fans who have played the 2002 game GTA Vice City. At the end of the trailer, Rockstar Games had revealed that GTA VI will be out in 2025.
Rockstar Games’ new trailer
Recently, GTA series’ developer Rockstar Games, unveiled a new trailer and all GTA VI fans jumped with enthusiasm. However, their excitement was short-lived because the new trailer didn’t have anything to do with GTA VI.
Instead, Rockstar Games had highlighted the enhanced version of GTA V for PC in the trailer. The update introduced advanced features such as ray tracing, ambient occlusion, global illumination, and support for NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. Yet, a large section of people were left disappointed as they were looking forward to a brand new GTA VI trailer.
While there’s no official announcement on GTA VI new trailer, fans keep coming up with new theories every now and then. A recent post by Reddit user “elliethr” said that the new GTA VI trailer could drop today (on April 22), which aligns with Saint Leonidas of Alexandria Day. The connection stems from GTA 6’s setting in the fictional state of Leonida, drawing a parallel to the saint’s name.
While the theory was shared humorously, it did garner attention and sparked discussions within the community. One user commented that this was better than many fan theories out there, another said that this is a “pretty good” theory which hasn’t been covered enough yet.
Even though fan theories continue to circulate, Rockstar Games is yet to officially announce any updates on the next trailer or the game’s release date.
