Apple introduced the new MacBook Air with the M4 chip on March 5, 2025. This release follows the launch of the iPad Air with the M3 chip on March 4. The latest MacBook Air delivers up to 18 hours of battery life, a 12MP Center Stage camera, and better external display support.
Faster Performance with M4 Chip
The M4 chip brings a major performance boost. It includes a 10-core CPU, up to a 10-core GPU, and support for up to 32GB of unified memory. Apple says it is twice as fast as the M1 model, making tasks smoother and more efficient.
Sleek Design and Improved Connectivity
Apple offers two sizes: 13-inch and 15-inch. The new Sky Blue color joins Midnight, Starlight, and Silver. Each model comes with a color-matched MagSafe charging cable.
For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. It also retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. The audio system includes Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and a three-microphone array for clear voice capture.
Advanced AI Features with macOS Sequoia
Apple enhances the MacBook Air with AI-powered features in macOS Sequoia. Key upgrades include:
- iPhone Mirroring lets users control iPhone apps and notifications from their Mac.
- Game Mode improves performance for titles like Civilization VII and Wuthering Waves.
- ChatGPT integration in Siri and Writing Tools is free and doesn’t require an account. Apple ensures privacy by hiding IP addresses and preventing OpenAI from storing requests.
Neural Engine Boosts AI Capabilities
The M4 chip’s Neural Engine is three times faster than the M1 MacBook Air’s. It speeds up tasks like photo enhancement and background noise removal in videos.
Pricing and Availability
Apple has reduced prices in the US:
