On Monday, the Supreme Court extended interim relief granted to former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain on medical grounds until further instructions.
A panel of Justice AS Bopanna and Justice MM Sundresh extended Jain’s interim bail and adjourned the case till July 24. Senior Advocate AM Singhvi, who was representing Jain, informed the Supreme Court that three hospitals, GB Pant, Appollo, and Max, had suggested surgery.
In his appearance on behalf of the Enforcement Directorate, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju requested the Supreme Court to order Jain to undergo medical examination at AIIMS for independent evaluation, expressing doubts about the report by three hospitals.
The court noted that two medical reports had been brought on record and that one more was to be brought on record, and it requested that it be brought on record and furnished a copy to ASG.
On May 26, the Supreme Court granted Satyendar Jain interim bail for six weeks in a money laundering case, but with several conditions, including not speaking with the media or living in Delhi without permission.
The Supreme Court also allowed Jain to seek medical care at any hospital of his choice. The Supreme Court has stated unequivocally that interim release is granted based on medical reasons.
Satyendar Jain has petitioned the Supreme Court for bail in a money laundering case. He has appealed the Delhi High Court’s decision to deny his bail application in the money laundering case against him.
