The Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, recommended the appointment of judicial officer Ramkumar Choubey as a Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The collegium, including Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B R Gavai, also recommended the names of advocates Deepak Khot and Pavan Kumar Dwivedi for appointment as Judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Regarding Ramkumar Choubey, the collegium stated that it scrutinized and evaluated the material on record. The candidate’s service record indicated he has been consistently rated as a ‘Very Good/Excellent officer.’ The collegium considered the quality of judgments authored by Choubey as “Good/Excellent,” according to the Judgment Evaluation Committee of the Chief Justice of the High Court.
The consultee-Judges found him suitable for elevation, leading the collegium to conclude that Ramkumar Choubey is fit and suitable for the appointment as a Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
In another decision, the collegium recommended the elevation of advocate Pranav Shailesh Trivedi as a judge of the Gujarat High Court. The reconsideration came after the Department of Justice referred back the file for positive consideration of the proposal. The collegium, endorsing the observations made by the Department of Justice, expressed the considered view that Trivedi is fit and suitable for elevation as a Judge of the High Court of Gujarat. Consequently, the collegium resolved to recommend the appointment of Pranav Shailesh Trivedi as a Judge of the High Court of Gujarat, recalling the previous recommendation made on March 2, 2023.
