In order to enroll the maximum number of voters for the Gurdwara Board Elections (SGPC), the District Administration is sensitising eligible voters to come forward before the deadline (February 29, 2024, for registration as a voter).

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer, Aashika Jain, said that the number is increasing day by day with concerted and consistent efforts at various levels. Besides holding special enrollment camps at Gurdwara Sahiban, the BLOs have also been roped in along with Patwaris and Municipal Staff. The BLOs are also assisting the Patwaris and Municipal Staff in house-to-house visits.

Last time, the total number of voters enrolled for Gurdwara Board Elections was about 70,000, and the district has set a target to reach every eligible voter this time.
Eligible voters should fulfill the following criteria: being 21 years or older, Keshadhari Sikhs, non-trimmers, non-shavers, non-alcoholics, and non-smokers. She mentioned that anyone fulfilling the eligible criteria can submit their form to Halka Patwari (in rural areas) and the Municipal Council Office (in the case of urban localities).

The Sub Divisional Magistrates of the concerned subdivision have been designated as Revising Authority Officers, and Revenue Officers are serving as Assistant Revising Authority Officers, she added. In case of any problems or queries, individuals can contact these officers as well.
Listing the number of enrollments, she said that the previous day, the total number was 47,898, and they are insisting on reaching eligible voters on holidays, as per their convenience. Out of these enrolled individuals, 27,418 are females, and 20,480 are males, she added.
