The Skipper of Chennai Super Kings and the captain of Lucknow SuperGiants KL Rahul have been fined by BCCI for the breach of IPL’s Model Code of Conduct in their most recent IPL game held at Ekana Sports City in Lucknow. 

Both players have been fined Rs. 12 lakh each due to slow-over-rate maintenance. In an ongoing match on Friday. 

However, both have received the penalty of minimum nature. As it was a first offense of the season. 

According to the official statement, the BCCI said, “KL Rahul, Captain, Lucknow Supergiant’s has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Rahul was fined INR 12 Lakh.” 

For the captain of Chennai Superkings, BCCI further said the similar thing, “Mr. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Captain, Chennai Super Kings has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 34 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Gaikwad was fined INR 12 Lac.”

Coming to the match, Lucknow super giants defeated Chennai Superkings by 8 wickets. KL Rahul got the ‘player of the match’ award for his knock of 82 off 53 balls. While Quinton-de-Kock of South Africa smashed 54 off 43 balls. Helping LSG reaching the target run of 177 in 19 overs.
