Ruchira Kamboj, the first Indian woman to serve as India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, announced her retirement on Saturday. She expressed gratitude to India for the remarkable years and unforgettable experiences. The Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, New York, thanked her for her exceptional leadership and dedication to the country, wishing her a happy retirement.

Additionally, Kamboj praised her interns for their outstanding work, lauding them as future leaders. She shared her appreciation on social media, highlighting their remarkable contributions. Earlier in the day, she participated in a significant event focused on enhancing peacekeeping efforts, expressing pride in representing India’s leading role in sharing strategic thinking and best practices.

According to the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in New York, Kamboj assumed the position of PR/Ambassador of India to New York in August 2022. Her diplomatic journey began in Paris, France, and included significant roles in Delhi, New York, Cape Town, and London. She also served as India’s Chief of Protocol and Ambassador to UNESCO Paris, contributing significantly to multilateral diplomacy.
