All school and colleges are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic owing to which educational activities have come to a complete standstill. This has forced many schools to start online classes. In this backdrop, the RSS-affiliate Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas (SSUN) has taken a vital step.

According to Atul Bhai Kothari, Senior Pracharak of the Sangh and National Secretary of SSUN, the trust has started a Vedic Mathematics short-term online course for third to eighth class students. Through this course, Vedic Mathematics are being taught to students so that the fear for mathematics could be gotten rid of.

In this seven-days online course, there is a daily lecture and after a week, children are tested. In a few days over 85,000 students have joined this course. Kothari told that during this time, the trust organised an all India e-painting competition to spread B.R. Ambedkar’s message. In just four days, more than 86,000 students participated in it, he informed.

Kothari has also given a memorandum to HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and PM Narendra Modi in view of the challenges due to Covid-19. The trust has demanded that when all educational institutions are closed and are not expected to open for some time, then the proposed National Education Policy also needs to be changed. The trust has suggested adding indigenous self-reliance, economy, service work and first-aid in the syllabus. Online education and skill education should also be included in this proposed policy.
