Actress Richa Chadha has filed a defamation suit against Payal Ghosh, Kamaal R. Khan and a news channel for dragging her name into the alleged sexual assault case filed by Ghosh against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.
Richa Chadha said the complainant was trying to unnecessarily “drag her name” in the case and called these alleged attempts false and baseless. She alleges that the defamatory statements have got her into immense humiliation, ridicule, and harassment.
Ghosh had alleged that Kashyap had “forced himself” on her when she had met him for work. She also claimed that Kashyap had mentioned to her that other actors like Chadha, Huma Qureshi and Mahie Gill had granted him sexual favours to bag film assignments.
Payal stated that she never blamed any Bollywood celebrity, while Chaddha’s name was taken by Anurag Kashyap The hearing for Richa’s case took place via video conferencing before a judge from Bombay High Court where Richa’s lawyers claimed to have served notices to Ghosh and other respondents. However, there was no representation from Payal Ghosh so the High Court has deferred the matter to Wednesday, 7th October.
