Actor Rhea Chakraborty moved a bail plea in a Special Mumbai Court on Wednesday, hours after she was shifted to the city’s Byculla Jail. Chakraborty has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for allegedly procuring drugs for deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput. A Mumbai court on Tuesday night sent Chakraborty to judicial custody till 22 September.

This is the second bail plea that the 28-year-old actor has filed after the court rejected her first one. “She has not committed any crime whatsoever and has been falsely implicated in the case,” the plea said. The court will hear the bail application on Thursday.

The Byculla jail is the only prison for women in Mumbai and currently has high-profile inmates including Sheena Bora murder accused Indrani Mukerjea and activist Sudha Bhardwaj, arrested in the Koregaon-Bhima case.

Byculla prison has confirmed that Rhea has been kept in a general barrack where new undertrials are kept in the prison before being allotted a barrack. By afternoon, the jail doctor examined Rhea and checked her blood pressure, sugar levels and pulse. The check-up revealed that Rhea was normal and there is no serious health-related illness.

She was allowed to rest after that and her bag was kept outside. Things that she needed were handed over to her in a small polythene bag. The bag contained a few pairs of clothes, a dental kit and other everyday essentials.

Rhea was provided lunch which included two chapatis, a bowl of rice, a bowl of dal and one sabzi. The jail also has a canteen from where inmates can buy biscuits and other daily need items.
