Finally, tender for the construction of the much-awaited AIIMS, project at Majra Bhalkhi Village, Rewari has been finalised. LNT company which succeeded in getting the construction tender worth 1231 crore, has to complete the project in a stipulated period of 22 months The issue of construction of AIIMS has been in talks in the assembly sessions as the opposite parties accused the ruling BJP-led state government of delaying the project due to political concerns. The issue echoed in the recent winter assembly session on December 15 and led to ruckus in political corridors earlier several times. During the session, ief Minister Manohar Lal said that the tender will be finalized soon.
Ahead of the polls, the prolonged AIIMS project also has political significance as the ruling and opposite factions have been at loggerheads over the issue.
Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh who is believed to have widespread support and hold in south Haryana is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the inauguration of the project by the Prime Minister in a bid to gain political mileage. Earlier, he said that the date of Prime Minister’s arrival will be announced after the tender is finalized. Prior to this, On December 28, Cooperative Minister Dr. Banwari Lal had given indications on the construction process of AIIMS
regarding the construction of AIIMS.
It is pertinent to mention that the Chief Minister Manohar Lal announced the establishment of AIIMS in Manethi village in July 2015 and further, Manethi Panchayat gave more than 210 acres of land for the completion of the project but no development occurred and the declarations remained in the files for many years. The villagers of Manethi struggled for AIIMS for almost a year. The central government had announced the construction of AIIMS in Manethi in the interim budget before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Further obstacles surfaced after the Forest Advisory Committee expressed objection, terming Manethi’s land as a forest area and the same resulted in the delay in the project. As a new development, people of Majra village with mutual consent gave land for the AIMS project. Apart from the Panchayati land, the government also owned the land of the village farmers.
It is believed that after the completion of the project, around 10 thousand people will get employment, and the people from several districts, namely Bhiwani, Rohtak, Rewari, Mahendragarh, , Jhajjar, Mewat, Palwal and Faridabad along with the Alwar district of the adjoining state Rajasthan will benefit from the establishment of AIIMS Rewari.
