As the first Congress chief minister of India’s newest state, Anumula Revanth Reddy took office as Telangana’s chief minister on Thursday.
At Hyderabad’s expansive Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan gave him the oath of office.
In 2014, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu was sworn in as the state’s deputy chief minister as well.
Gaddam Prasad Kumar, the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly, was also sworn in by Governor Soundarajan.
Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi who arrived in Hyderabad early this monring were also present for the swearing-in ceremony.
Party leader Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi were also present on the stage.
To participate in the event, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar traveled to Hyderabad.
“We will implement the guarantees,” DK Shivakumar declared prior to the swearing-in ceremony. Whatever we have said, we intend to follow through on.”
In Hyderabad, folk musicians entertained outside the LB stadium prior to Revanth Reddy’s oath as Telangana chief minister.
