Authorities in Srinagar virtually sealed roads and the main business centre of Lal Chowk on Tuesday as the Advisor to Lt Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, unfurled the Tricolour at the S.K. Stadium in Sonwar.

In Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha while addressing the people and the employees said that holding of violence-free DDC elections was the biggest achievement of his administration.

He said that the Central government was taking the development of Jammu and Kashmir very seriously and very soon people will also feel the visible change.

Heavy security was put in place in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir on Tuesday while the mobile Internet services were suspended on all the service-providing companies. However, mobile phone services were not affected.

No untoward incident was reported from any part of Kashmir Valley as the tricolour was unfurled at district headquarters in the entire 22 districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
