What was there in the beginning? In the beginning of creation. When nothing was there. The One that is the One was the only One. The One that is the One existed. The One who exists and does not exists like existence or non-existence. That is the only One that was. That is the only One who is. That is the only One who is to be. The One who earlier was and the One who is in the later ages. The One who is here today and the One who is to be forever. The One who will always be. Humans have limitations of understanding. We think Him to be different. The One who exists before Creation and the One who exists after Creation and One who exists after many creations are created and destroyed.

That One does not exist either in the past, present or future. But that One That-Which-Is exists. That-Which-is does not exist like the limitations of human intelligence. Human intelligence thinks that He is, so he would not have been. That-Which-Is exists not as one day he was not like That-Which-Is was not. That-Which-Is neither was Nor Is and will never exist as human comprehension.

That-Which-Is exists beyond human comprehension. That-Which-Is is from beginning of all beginnings and That-Which-Is is after all creations are created and destroyed. Time that we call present is between past and future. But to say that That-Which-Is is in the present is a way to lend a definition which is not apt. That-Which-Is is not part of time. Even to say that he exists forever or in present makes it part of the time. Human mind thinks that man is and tomorrow he will not be, so he has fear. It thinks that what who he calls God is like human comprehension. Mind can comprehend as much as could be thought by it not beyond.

That who is That-Which-Is is aptly described That-Which-Is. If we call Him That-Which-is some may give the definition to That-Which-Is as the opposite of That-Which-Was-Not as human comprehension has limited cognition. Our cognition births by language and language is grown by assigning linguistics artificial meanings to things and occurrence without which our language, cognition, and comprehension are lost.

Language has its limitations. That who is That-Which-Is is not like the opposite comprehension of That-Which-Was-Not. That who is That-Which-Is is beyond human definitions. Humans can’t define That-Which-Is. The One that we are able to define that becomes a tool in our toolbox of knowledge. So-called religious people continue to use definitions written in scriptures and books as tools to opiate people in the name of God. That who is That-Which-Is has no definition. It can’t be defined.

The One who we call the God or That-Which-Is is there in the beginning and is there is in the end. Is there before many creations and is there after all those creations are created and destroyed. That-Which-Is is there today in the Now-ness. Nanak beautifully describes That-Which-Is as the Truth. Nanak says ‘Aaad Sach. Jugaad Sach. Hai Bhi Sach. Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach.’ Truth is there in the beginning. Truth is there in all ages. Truth is Truth. Truth is forever the Truth.

That that is That-Which-Is could only be described or roped in words in the time. Therefore whatever human mind defines becomes the definition in time. Whatever man says he says in time. Because whatever man defines he defines in words of language. Languages are expressions in time. Because time is the basic structure on which language reproduces. And time is mind. Therefore it is of the mind. And Mind cannot comprehend That-Which-Is that is beyond time. Timeless. Time is human comprehension.

That That-Which-is is Now-ness. That was there in the beginning. And it never began and will never end. That that is Now-ness is always in the Now-ness. In that Now-ness this creation begins. Like it is said in Rig Veda that there arose a desire that stirred and a seed sprouted on its own and creation began. And Hindus say that God was alone and he wanted to be two. From that Now-ness the beginning of Creation has happened. In that beginning that which has sprouted into creation. When creation begins in the Now-ness. Space is created between things. To comprehend that space, body-mind is bred. When space is comprehended well, time begins. When time begins, mind becomes complex. That brought the sense of time to humans.

That which is the Now-ness. That has no beginning no end. But to be man have to be in time. When he is dejected from life in time, he can fall off a cliff or commit suicide. Again that is in the sense of time. But death or suicide will only happen in the Now-ness. Any occurrence happens in the Now-ness. It does not happen in the time. Man thinks everything happens in time. That is man’s neurosis. That that is the sense of something being done. That is also time. And that sense of something not being done is also time. That occurrence occurs in now-ness. Real life is now-ness.

We are born with the seed of Now-ness. And we ought to grow into the tree of Now-ness. That tree of Now-ness has no limitations. That Hindus call Sakshi means Witness is like being in your Now-ness of being. All meditations on earth revolve around two things. Thoughts are there. Thoughts are time. Time is understanding. Time is mind. Man thinks that he thinks therefore he lives. In thoughts there is time. To stop the sense of time. Turn to Now-ness. Now-ness is that canvas on which everything happens. Man thinks that he will be or will do something or will do meditations or be enlightened.

Even to bear thoughts of meditations and enlightenment will lend you into the mind and time. When you will learn that there is nothing to do, everything is in place. Now-ness does not let the time make you miserable. Thoughts are bred as we walk up to them then we run with them. And we give them our energy. Switch on to the energy in the Now-ness of your being. That which is Witness or Sakshi is the sense of Now-ness. And thoughts are sense of time. Meditation is also the sense of time. But meditation is a way to go beyond but is non-essential. Now-ness is enough.
