A couple was apprehended by the police on Tuesday for stealing a car in a manner reminiscent of the characters Bunty and Babli from the Bollywood film. The incident occurred in the Janak Puri area of New Delhi, as reported by a police official.

The arrested individuals were identified as Sandeep Munna (27) and Reena (27), both residents of Palam, Delhi. The duo, who reside in Delhi, reportedly took inspiration from the Bollywood movie “Bunty Aur Babli.”

The theft took place on February 22 at 10:46 PM, when a person reported to the police that his vehicle had been taken by a couple he had given a lift to. The complainant stated that he had briefly left his car unattended and returned to find it missing, along with his laptop.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under IPC sections 379 and 34. Police formed a team to investigate, which led to the arrest of Sandeep Munna. The stolen car was also recovered based on information provided by him.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Sandeep’s friend, Reena, was also involved in the crime. She was subsequently arrested, and the stolen laptop was recovered at her direction.

Police stated that the accused, Sandeep Munna and Reena, lived together in the Uttam Nagar area of West Delhi. They were reportedly unemployed and addicted to alcohol, leading them to plan the theft as they could not afford the rent for their flat.

Further details of the case are awaited.
