India’s T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma made a special appearance at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club to watch the men’s singles semi-finals of the ongoing Wimbledon. Rohit, who led India to their second T20 World Cup title last month, was seen near courtside, dressed in an olive suit paired with a tan brown tie and leather shoes. India secured the title by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final held in Barbados.

Just over a week after celebrating the T20 World Cup victory with fans in Mumbai, Rohit was spotted watching the Wimbledon semi-finals. Pictures of him standing near Centre Court quickly went viral. IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) humorously commented on his appearance with a post on Instagram, captioning it, “Skipper himself in the garden,” referring to Rohit’s earlier advice to Indian youngsters during a Test series against England to avoid roaming on the ground.

Rohit attended the first semi-final match between Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz at Centre Court on Friday. Following the T20 World Cup triumph, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the 20-over format. He concluded his T20I career as the format’s highest run-scorer with 4231 runs in 159 games and the record holder for most centuries (five) in T20 internationals. Rohit has two T20 World Cup titles to his name: one as a player in 2007 and the recent one in 2024 as captain.

In the semi-final match, Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the Wimbledon 2024 men’s singles final after defeating Daniil Medvedev with a score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Alcaraz will now face four-time Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic, who won his semi-final match against Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.
