Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed “bhoomi pujan” for the construction of the Ram temple on Wednesday in Ayodhya. The whole country was euphoric and excited to see this historical ceremony happening. The similar fervour and joy swept across the Hindu community in the United States, with different groups celebrating what has set the stage for the construction of the temple at Ram janmabhoomi.
According to sources, the government is keen to have the feedback of this kind from other countries, including the US. The government is getting updated at the same time on how Hindu groups across different countries are celebrating the bhoomi pujan. There are reports from Australia, the UK, the US and several other countries that Indian diaspora over there are organising various virtual events to mark the significance of the occasion.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Washington and London is reported to have taken out tableaux displaying the digital image of Ram Temple. Members of the VHP went around the streets of both the cities chanting the slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Similarly, members of the Hindu community in the US, Britain, Australia and even in New Zealand lit diyas at their home as a mark of devotion to Lord Ram.
Similar reports have come pouring in from Singapore and Malaysia where Hindu community members took out rallies with social distancing raising saffron flags with images of Lord Ram printed thereon. A software engineer, Ankur Mishra, told The Daily Guardian from Singapore several of his colleagues in the company stood at one place and offered prayer to Lord Ram. Slogans in deference to Ram were raised and their kids are going to enact a play based on the Ramayana in days to come.
However, the public celebrations are not being organised because of the pandemic. So, a large number of virtual events are being organised abroad.
According to reports, a mega event is scheduled at New York’s iconic Times Square. Big screens are being erected to display the images of Lord Ram. “Individuals are celebrating in their homes too by performing pujas, lighting lamps. It will be early Diwali for many.
The enthusiasm among the Indians here is very high,” a community media release informed.
Similarly, temples in various foreign cities have been decked and prayers would be offered as part of celebration to mark the historical event of bhoomi pujan at Ayodhya.
According to sources, many Hindu organisations active in America, the UK, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Australia have approached the Indian embassies in their respective countries through video calls and web to send their congratulatory messages for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the Ram temple mission to the logical conclusion.
