The political parties play their own games while it comes to their interests. This can be witnessed in Andhra Pradesh as YSRCP, the ruling party and the fourth largest party in India, extended its support to NDA candidate Harivansh for the deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha. This is despite it not being a part of the government and the same strategy was witnessed in the vice-presidential elections. It seems YSRCP is warming up to NDA for funds and special status for Andhra Pradesh.

The state has been facing a deep financial crunch with the party MPs raising the issue in the parliament. The irrigation projects have faced a setback due to the lack of funds and this issue has been flagged off by the CM of Andhra Pradesh. MPs have decided to bring the issue of special status for debate in Parliament.

YSRCP Lok Sabha leader MP Mithun Reddy said, “We will raise all the issues and special status also in the parliament. Every promise given by the union government should be fulfilled. The centre should give money for the Polavaram project and take care of those displaced due to it. The GST arrears due to the state should be paid as soon as possible. We will seek the support of the Union Government in establishing medical colleges in every Lok Sabha constituency.” YSRCP Lok Sabha leader Mithun Reddy has already asked the Speaker to discuss issues like Covid-19 control measures related to Andhra Pradesh.

On the other hand, the TRS Rajya Sabha members boycotted the Parliament during Rajya Sabha deputy chairman election.

The TRS is playing it safe by keeping a political distance from both BJP and Congress and even declined the deputy chairman post offered to it by the Congress. KCR asked his MPs to raise every issue relating to the state and fight against BJP at Delhi level. He told his MPs “The situation with regard to the Central Government is terrible. they are not giving what is due. Rs 9,000 crore is due. The MPs should take up the fight.” TRS parliamentary party leader K Keshav Rao on Thursday said the party would raise the GST dues and other state issues during the parliament session.
